Meeting Title: Arcadia & Capella – the importance of Architecture in system design with an MBSE approach
Speakers: Juan Navas, Ph.D.
Primary Language: Spanish
Date:18 July 2023
Time: 5:00 PM CEST / 12 PM ARG / 11 AM CHI / 10 AM COL / 10 AM PER / 9 am CDMX
Location: Zoom – Launch Meeting – Zoom
Abstract: More than 15 years after the first experiments in using the model-based engineering approach, Thales today has more than 2,000 MBSE-qualified engineers and has successfully used the Arcadia method and the Capella tool on more than 100 projects in a broad set of domains, with different team sizes, organizational contexts, and complexity profiles. This experience allows it to highlight the important role that systems architecture models play in the quality and efficiency of systems engineering processes and engineering in general. This talk will address the main methodological and tool characteristics of Arcadia and Capella, as well as other aspects such as how to promote cultural change and the benefits that can be expected with MBSE.
Speaker:
Juan Navas is a systems architect with more than 12 years of experience in realizing and implementing systems engineering practices in multiple organizations. He leads a team of experts in Modeling & Simulation at the central engineering division of the Thales group. Juan spends most of his time in training and other consulting activities around the world, for Thales and other organizations. He supports systems engineering managers and systems architects to implement MBSE approaches in operational projects, helping them to define their engineering approaches, objectives and guidelines. Juan holds a PhD in embedded software engineering (Brest, France), a Master’s degree in Control & Computer Science from MINES ParisTech (Paris, France), and degrees in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from Universidad de los Andes (Bogotá, Colombia). Delivery Language: Spanish
