Deze avond een bijdrage vanuit INCOSE-UK.

Live vanuit de UK geeft prof. Jon Holt van INCOSE-UK ons inzicht in:
– de Systems Engineering uitdagingen die binnen de UK spelen,
– de wijze waarop hij zijn rol als technical director van INCOSE-UK invult,
– de manier waarop INCOSE-UK zich heeft ontwikkeld tot ‘recognised body’ m.b.t. Systems Engineering binnen de UK.

Daarnaast zal hij ingaan op een recente toepassing van MBSE binnen een Brits bedrijf of project. Om alvast wat meer inzicht te geven in wat je van de avond kunt verwachten, volgt hieronder informatie die we hierover vanuit INCOSE-UK hebben ontvangen.

Overview
In 2022, INCOSE UK will be evolving into its new incarnation as a Professional Engineering Institute (PEI) when it will be known as the Institute for Systems Engineering (IfSE). Prof Jon Holt, current Technical Director of INCOSE UK, will provide an overview of how this transition has come about over the last few years and the implication on Systems Engineering and Systems Engineers both in the UK and in the wider Systems Engineering community. Jon will also discuss the challenges faced in his role as Technical Director of INCOSE UK, including the Professional Services and Professional Products that are currently offered. In terms of Technical Products, amongst others, INCOSE UK is now a major force in publishing Systems Engineering books, including its highly-popular Don’t Panic Series of introductory guides to various Systems Engineering topics, and it’s more-in depth Professional Applications of Systems Engineering series. Jon will also talk about some of the Professional Services that are offered and under development, such as the Endorsed Training Provide programme.

Finally, this would not be a Jon Holt talk without at least some mention of MBSE, so he will present a brief overview of MBSE and its use in industry.

Bio
Prof Jon Holt is an internationally-recognised expert in the field of Model-based Systems Engineering (MBSE). He is an international award-winning author and public speaker and has authored 17 books on MBSE and its applications.

Since 2014 he has been a Director and consultant for Scarecrow Consultants, who are ‘outstanding in the field of MBSE’.

Jon is also a Professor of Systems Engineering at Cranfield University, where he is involved with the teaching of and research into MBSE. He is a Fellow of both the IET and the BCS and is a Chartered Engineer and Chartered IT Professional. He is currently the Technical Director of INCOSE UK where he is responsible for all technical activities and, in 2015, was identified as one of the 25 most-influential Systems Engineers in the last 25 years by INCOSE. In 2022 Jon was elected as an INCOSE Fellow.

Jon is also actively involved in the promotion of Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) where he uses magic, mind-reading and occasional escapology to promote Systems Engineering at Music Festivals, Science Festivals, the IET Pythagorean Cabaret, radio shows and other STEM events. He has also authored the children’s STEM book ‘Think Engineer’ which is published by INCOSE UK.
