Demystifying Systems Engineering: A Blueprint for
\nIntroducing SE Concepts to Novices Using the ISO\/IEC 24773
\nFramework and Experiential Learning Models

Bio.
\n<\/strong>Andr\u00e9 Marra joined TMC in 2021 and acts as the main point of contact for the company’s Systems Engineering Business Cell. He holds a background in Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture, backed by extensive experience in design and development across the home appliances and defense sectors. His expertise spans products such as induction cooktops, heat pumps, and refrigerators, as well as military explosive devices, armored vehicles, and naval cannons. Currently, Andr\u00e9 is engaged in an aerospace project, where his primary responsibilities include Systems Engineering Test & Evaluation (V&V) processes, with a specific focus on environmental requirements and qualification campaigns. Additionally, he supports 3Beam in installing light shows for events across Europe, applying systems engineering best practices to ensure project success. He also serves as one of the trainers for TMC’s updated SEPD 20252030 program.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

Abstract.
\n<\/strong>Systems Engineering (SE) is critical for managing modern
\ncomplexity, yet the industry faces a profound shortage of
\nqualified practitioners. Because traditional educational
\npipelines struggle to meet the double-digit growth in
\ncommercial demand, organizations are increasingly forced to
\nretrain and “recycle” engineers from traditional
\nengineering disciplines who have no prior exposure to SE
\nprinciples. This paper presents a pedagogical strategy
\ndesigned explicitly to introduce SE to absolute novices who
\ndesire to enter the field.
\nDrawing structural guidelines from the ISO\/IEC 24773
\nstandards series and applying empirical insights from TMC
\nItaly’s real-world Systems Engineering Personal Development
\n(SEPD) program, we outline a comprehensive curriculum for
\nnon-specialists. The proposed onboarding methodology
\ntranslates highly abstract SE competencies into intuitive
\nsteps by blending Bloom\u2019s Taxonomy and Kolb\u2019s Experiential
\nLearning Cycle with highly engaging, active learning
\nstrategies\u2014such as architectural product teardowns and
\nrapid idea generation. Finally, the paper discusses how
\nintegrating human mentorship clinics with Artificial
\nIntelligence (AI) platforms accelerates the transition from
\nreductionist (systematic) to holistic (systemic) thinking,
\nallowing beginners to reliably establish a foundational SE
