Abstract.
The adoption of System Modeling Language (SysML) v2 marks a significant step forward for Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). Introduced in 2025, SysML v2 provides a formal semantic foundation, a human-readable textual notation, and improved support for automation and interoperability between modelling tools. However, organizations that have invested in established MBSE languages, tools, and methods, including Capella, SysML v1, and Ecore-based languages, face the challenge of transitioning their modelling practices to this new language. This presentation presents a practical migration guide to support the adoption of SysML v2. The guide is based on a systematic mapping between concepts from Capella and their corresponding constructs in SysML v2. The mapping highlights both conceptual similarities and key differences in modelling approaches, enabling practitioners to understand how existing modelling knowledge can be transferred to the new language. The resulting framework supports systems engineers in adopting SysML v2 while preserving existing modelling expertise and provides tool vendors with a foundation for transitioning existing MBSE toolchains to support SysML v2-based models.
