Getting Hands-On with SysML v2: Modeling a Flashlight with SysON

Bio.

Etienne Juliot : Co-founder of Obeo, he is currently Vice President of Sales. With a Master’s degree in software architecture from the University of Nantes, Étienne Juliot has more than 25 years of experience in software engineering and model-driven engineering (MDE).Very involved in several Open Source communities such as Sirius, Capella and SysON, he lectures all over the world and served on the Eclipse Foundation’s Board of Directors for fifteen years.

Abstract.

SysML v2 brings a new foundation for Model-Based Systems Engineering, with a more precise language, improved interoperability, and complementary graphical and textual notations. But what does modeling with SysML v2 actually look like in practice? In this hands-on tutorial, participants will discover the core concepts of SysML v2 by building a simple but representative system model: the well-known Flashlight Starter Model.Using SysON, the open-source, web-based graphical modeling environment for SysML v2, we will progressively explore how to structure the model, capture requirements, describe system parts, define behaviors, and connect these different perspectives into a consistent system model.Rather than providing a comprehensive introduction to the language, this tutorial focuses on learning by doing. Participants will leave with a practical understanding of the SysML v2 modeling experience and a concrete starting point for exploring the language on their own.
