Integrated MBSA and FMEA Validation via Fault-Injection Simulation

15:00 – 16:30

Abstract
This presentation discusses an integrated, simulation-driven model-based safety analysis (MBSA) approach that supports failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) of system architecture models. Simulation-based validation methods check the system-level effects in the FMEA table against results from fault-injected simulations. This ensures consistency between the design model and the FMEA and validates underlying assumptions. Fault models are injected into the system architecture and linked to specific FMEA table entries via a dedicated mapping mechanism. The approach is demonstrated on the control system of a machine cooling system, showing how FMEA is derived from the architecture and validated both statically and through simulation.
