Workshop Outline
Part 1: Introduction to AI and Large Language Models (30 minutes) 

  • Overview of AI, machine learning, neural networks, and deep learning. 
  • Introduction to Large Language Models (LLMs) and applications. 
  • Inspirational application examples using LLMs.

Part 2: Understanding and Working with LLMs (1 hours) 

  • Basic architecture and functioning of LLMs. 
  • Pretrained models, fine-tuning, and hands-on practice with text generation.

Part 3: Development Tools and Environment Setup (45 minutes) 

  • Overview of essential tools and libraries (Anaconda, Python, LLM APIs). 
  • Setting up a development environment for LLM projects. 

Part 4: Developing Applications with LLMs (2 hours) 

  • Implementing applications: text summarization, translation, and chatbot creation. 
  • Iterative prompting and large data 
  • Introduction to fine-tuning models for domain-specific tasks. 

Bio Barclay Brown
Barclay R. Brown is Associate Director for AI Research at Collins Aerospace, a division of RTX. Before joining Collins, he was an Engineering Fellow in Raytheon Missiles and Defense, focusing on MBSE, and prior to that he was the Global Solution Executive for the Aerospace and Defense Industry at IBM. Dr. Brown holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, two master’s degrees in psychology and business and a PhD in industrial and systems engineering. He is author of Engineering Intelligent Systems, published by Wiley, and is a certified Expert Systems Engineering Professional (ESEP), certified Systems Engineering Quality Manager, and former CIO of INCOSE.
