The Art of Mastering System Complexity
13:00 – 14:30
Abstract
Today’s product development is more complex than ever. This workshop will explore how organizations – and in particular engineering teams – can use TopTeam to master this complexity challenge. The workshop will highlight how TopTeam facilitates Product Line Engineering (PLE) critical workflows – from managing and using (object) libraries, analyzing change requests to supporting collaborative reviews – ensuring that the technical platform and your organizational processes work hand-in-hand.
We’ll use practical case studies from the energy infrastructure sector to demonstrate these functionalities and how TopTeam can keep people —engineers, stakeholders, and decision-makers— at the center of the Product line engineering process. You’ll learn how to:
- Build the Foundation: Establish standardized, modular design principles and formal libraries that capture architectures, models, decisions, and requirements. We’ll show you how to set up a robust data model that connects information from the business layer to operations and vice versa, making impacts of critical decisions visible and accessible when they are needed.
- Develop and Evolve Libraries: Discover how to define and configure standardized asset libraries that enable an iterative and collaborative development process. We’ll demonstrate how to analyze the impact of changes, support decision-making, and create new projects based on existing assets. Empowering teams to build on past and shared knowledge.
- Use, Maintain & Grow: See how TopTeam supports the ongoing maintenance and expansion of deployed shared assets. We’ll show you how to visualize the impact of changes, maintain strong version control, and effectively manage reviews and change requests.
So, in conclusion, while deploying the right (digital) tooling is vital for capturing a complex system, it is not the silver bullet. The true art of mastering complexity lies in integrating that tool with sound organizational processes that enable the users to extract the vital insights they need.
