INCOSE stands for: International Council on Systems Engineering. INCOSE is a non-profit association founded in 1990 with the aim of promoting the application and development of Systems Engineering. Systems Engineering is an integrated and structured approach to the realization of successful systems. Systems Engineers are often employed in the design of complex systems such as aircraft, trains, cars, software, defense components, infrastructure, etc. The realization that Systems Engineering has a much broader field of application and can be useful for all kinds of systems – including complex processes and organizations – was the reason to set up INCOSE.
